Jenna Ortega Break From TV After Wednesday: Jenna Ortega Says She'll Be "Off the TV for a While" Once the Show Ends

Media Crew, this one stopped us mid-scroll. A Jenna Ortega break from TV after Wednesday is officially on the table — the 24-year-old star says once the hit Netflix series comes to an end, she plans to step away from television for a while and make room for something new.
Ortega opened up on Josh Horowitz's "Happy Sad Confused" podcast, released Thursday, October 22. Asked whether she has been having conversations about joining another franchise, she kept it real: she hasn't had a lot of them. "What I'm meant to do will come and find me," she said. "I think after 'Wednesday,' I'll probably be off the TV for a while."
She has been doing TV since she was a kid
Her reasoning is easy to understand when you look at the résumé. Ortega has been acting since she was nine years old, bouncing — her words — "from show to show as a kid." Before the braids and the cello, there was "Jane the Virgin," a leading run on Disney Channel's "Stuck in the Middle," and "You," plus film work that started all the way back with a small role in "Iron Man 3" in 2013.
"I want to leave time for new things," she explained. That is not a goodbye to acting — her film list already includes "The Fallout," "X," "Death of a Unicorn" and "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" — it is a goodbye, for now, to committing her life to another long-running series.
No, Season 3 is not confirmed as the end
Before the fandom spirals: nobody has said "Wednesday" is ending with Season 3, and nobody has said Ortega is leaving early. Production on Season 3 started in February, with her "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" co-star Winona Ryder and Eva Green joining the cast, and Netflix announced in September that filming had wrapped. The new season is expected in 2027, with Ortega back opposite Luis Guzmán as Gomez, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley.
The show has been a monster for Netflix since it premiered in 2022 — four Emmy wins so far, an Emmy nomination for Ortega herself, and a second season that landed in 2025. Which is exactly why her podcast comments hit so hard: the face of one of TV's biggest shows is already thinking about life after TV.
Why fans are taking this one personally
Ortega has never played the franchise game on autopilot. She walked away from "Scream" after "Scream VI," later explaining the move in a 2025 interview as the project falling apart around her — her on-screen sister Melissa Barrera was fired, and the directors she loved were not returning. Earlier this year she also revealed she almost quit acting altogether before landing "You."
So when Jenna Ortega says she wants time for new things, Media Crew, history says believe her. The question is what "new" looks like — more films, directing, producing, or a real break from the spotlight she has talked about needing before.
What do y'all think? Is a TV break the right move after "Wednesday," or will Nevermore not be the same knowing the clock is ticking? Tap in, and keep it locked on allegedlymedia.biz for the stories everybody will be talking about tomorrow.
